Using weather forecasts to predict outdoor temperature changes and channeling that information into commercial building management systems can produce significant energy savings, according to research at the University of Adelaide in Australia.
The data turns passive indoor systems into pre-emptive systems that anticipate the need for heating and cooling, saving more than 10% in energy costs, researchers say.
