University of North Carolina Charlotte Academic Complex completes

Woolpert provided design and engineering upgrades for the project.

Woolpert has completed the $17 million renovation of the Academic Complex at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. The project includes five academic buildings at the southeast end of the campus.

Upgrades began in 2015 and included improvements to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, the installation of a fire protection system, improvement to accessibility, the addition of interior finishes and exterior windows, and addressed minor building settlement.

“The modernization of these academic sites will provide a more comfortable learning environment for students, while ensuring access to the technology necessary in 21st-century education,” said David Welling, Woolpert Architect. “UNC Charlotte is investing in students’ present as well as their futures.”
