Kean University in Union, N.J., will receive a new 102,275-sf, six-story building as a gateway marking the campus’s main entrance. The mixed-use center will house a café, retail space, classrooms, administration space, a conference center, a rooftop terrace, and the university’s new Robert Busch School of Design. Led by the Gruskin Group, Springfield, N.J., the Building Team will adorn the center in an undulating glass façade to contrast three opaque towers, aligning the new construction with the existing geometries of the campus. A series of horizontal metal solar shading fins will clad the outer edge of the façade curtain wall, while a promenade with seasonal planters will welcome students and faculty.
