Geist, a technology provider for data center critical infrastructure, announced the opening of the Geist Europe branch.
In July 2010, Geist purchased a 50% stake in UK-based Data and Power Solutions, which will now be Geist Europe.
The new branch provides the company’s international clients with additional support and services. In addition, the company is now able to extend their product set to international clients while improving customer relations globally.
The European office is now open for business. And with the addition of Geist Europe, Geist continues to build on their recent period of substantial and successful growth. BD+C

Billings at U.S. architecture firms exceeds $40 billion annually
In the three-year period leading up to the current recession, gross billings at U.S. architecture firms increased nearly $16 billion from 2005 and totaled $44.3 billion in 2008. This equates to 54 percent growth over the three-year period with annual growth of about 16 percent. The tool is an online, searchable database where manufacturers can list products that have met certain environmental or health standards ranging from recycled content to materials that contribute to improved indoor air quality.

Permanent tribute to Daniel Burnham and his Plan of Chicago proposed for Grant Park Museum Campus
The first-place winner of a design competition for a public memorial celebrating Daniel Burnham's impact on Chicago will be announced at a news conference Wednesday, July 8, at 10am CDT. The proposed site for the memorial is on the Museum Campus just north of The Field Museum. The announcement comes after nearly two years of planning by Chicago's architecture, design and urban planning community about how to best honor the legacy of Burnham and the Plan of Chicago he co-wrote with Edward Bennett.
