In preparation for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, Seoul-based firm Planning Korea unveiled anĀ angular infinite-sign shaped seaside hotel to host visitors.
ArchDaily reports that in addition to the 946 hotel rooms offered, the building will also have condoĀ units for sale. The main building will sit on a sprawling 317,460-sf site, which will hostĀ a variety of marine and mountain leisure facilities within the hotelās complex.
Rooftop gardens are terraced throughout the structure, making the sloping sections of the building reminiscent of a traditional Korean hanok village. On the lower levels, restaurants and retail space will be interspersed, adding to the village atmosphere.
The hotel will only be 3.1 miles away from the Olympic stadiums and facilities, which are expected to be completed in 2016.
According to the firm, the hotelās figure-eight form was inspired by the ecological structure of the plankton.

Southern Illinois park pavilion earns LEED Platinum
Erinās Pavilion, a welcome and visitors center at the 80-acre Edwin Watts Southwind Park in Springfield, Ill., earned LEED Platinum. The new 16,000-sf facility, a joint project between local firm Walton and Associates Architects and the sustainability consulting firm Vertegy, based in St. Louis, serves as a community center and special needs education center, and is named for Erin Elzea, who struggled with disabilities during her life.

Holiday Inn reworked for Downtown Disney Resort
The Orlando, Fla., office of VOA Associates completed a comprehensive interior and exterior renovation of the 14-story Holiday Inn in the Downtown Disney Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The $25 million project involved rehabbing the hotelās 332 guest rooms, atrium, swimming pool, restaurant, fitness center, and administrative spaces.
