You’ll want to be sure your firm is on the Giants 300 list, as potential clients look to these rankings for prospective firms to design and construct their future projects. Giants 300 results will be published in our July 2015 issue.

There are two additional ways to participate in the July Giants 300 report:
1. SUBMIT YOUR LATEST PROJECT PHOTOS FOR CONSIDERATION
As in years past, we're looking for great project photos for use in the July Giants issue, including on the cover. Please email your photo submissions to me (dbarista@sgcmail.com) by April 24. If possible, please include a short description of each image, with the project name and location and key Building Team members (owner/client, architect, structural engineer, MEP engineer, and contractor), and photo credit.
2. SUBMIT YOUR IDEAS FOR THE JULY GIANTS ISSUE EDITORIAL COVERAGE
The editors would like to hear from your AEC teams on the latest trends, projects, and innovations across a number of major building sectors that will be covered in the July Giants issue. They include: government, green building, healthcare, higher education, hotels/hospitality, K-12 schools, military, multifamily, office buildings, reconstruction, retail, science & technology, sports & recreation, and transit/TOD. Please email a short summary (and photos, if applicable) of your trends/innovations/projects for any of these sectors to dbarista@sgcmail.com by April 24.

Nonresidential construction will be down 14% in 2009; 17% in 2010, according to FMI report
FMI released its Construction Outlook: Second Quarter 2009 Report, and the outlook isn't good for the nonresidential market. FMI forecasts the market to decline 14% this year, followed by a 17% slide in 2010. Draft NIST report on Cowboys practice facility collapse released for public comment
A fabric-covered, steel frame practice facility owned by the National Football League’s Dallas Cowboys collapsed under wind loads significantly less than those required under applicable design standards, according to a report released today for public comment by the Commerce Department's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

DLR Group planning Santa Cruz County Justice and Detention Center
The multifunctional project combines a new courthouse, adult detention, juvenile detention and sheriff’s offices - all in close proximity to each other. Serving all of Santa Cruz County in Arizona, the three-story project includes a new jail facility with separate areas for adults and juveniles, a sheriff’s office and a new courts and administration building with courts, offices and public service areas.

ASHRAE releases free BIM introductory guide
A newly released guide from ASHRAE on building information models and building information modeling (BIM) serves as a resource for professionals considering BIM tools and applications for their businesses. According to "An Introduction to Building Information Modeling," BIM is “a digital representation of the physical and the functional characteristics of a facility.” Unlike 2D or 3D CAD, BIM software utilizes intelligent objects to create models.

USGBC honors Brad Pitt's Make It Right New Orleans as the ‘largest and greenest single-family community in the world’
U.S. Green Building Council President, CEO and Founding Chair Rick Fedrizzi today declared that the neighborhood being built by Make It Right New Orleans, the post-Katrina housing initiative launched by actor Brad Pitt, is the “largest and greenest community of single-family homes in the world” at the annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting in New York.
