The Lake Nona campus of Valencia College in Florida shifted its sustainability standard to Green Globes largely to be able to use a bipolar-ionization system to treat its indoor air -- something LEED didn't allow. With bipolar ionization, indoor air is treated to a high standard with filtration systems that address air-quality issues so that less outdoor air needs to be taken in to maintain healthy indoor air. A national survey of floodplain development between 2001 and 2019 found that fewer structures were built in floodplains than might be expected if cities were building at random.
