The five U.S. markets with the largest hotel construction pipelines by project count are: New York (180 projects; 30,699 rooms), Dallas (149; 17,860), Houston (146; 15,714), Nashville, Tenn. (116; 15,793, and Los Angeles (110; 16,733), according to Lodging Econometrics.
New York has the most new hotel openings forecasted for 2018, with 57 projects and 9,534 rooms debuting this year. Dallas is expected to open 34 hotels, with 3,841 total rooms. Houston: 31 new hotels, with 3,113 rooms.
As for 2019, New York will continue to lead the way, with 37 projects and 4,601 rooms, followed by Houston (36; 4,381).
