HDR and Herzog & de Meuron will design the new hospital of the historic Helen Diller Medical Center at Parnassus Heights for the University of California San Francisco (UCSF).
The future hospital is being envisioned as “The Healing Habitat,” a holistic healthcare environment that fosters wellness and recovery by combining efficient facilities with human experiences, connected to nature and the community.

The hospital will play an important role in its location between Mount Sutro and Golden Gate Park, acting as a gateway between nature and the urban context around it.
In-depth details of the design will be released at a later date. The project is scheduled to open in 2030. HDR is the architect of record and Herzog & de Meuron is the lead designer.
