Toronto residential tower to feature drawer-like facade scheme

Some of the apartments in the new River City development will protrude from the building at different lengths, creating a drawer-like "push-pull" effect.

Phase Three of the River City development, or RC3, is now under construction in Toronto. Both RC1 and RC2 are already well under way, headed by the real estate firm Urban Capital. The complex, designed by Saucier + Perrotte Architects, will have 930 units available when RC3 is completed.

The third phase entails a 28-story building, with a black façade set off by bright-white box sections. The boxes will protrude from the building at different lengths, creating a drawer-like "push-pull" effect, Urban Toronto reports.

Complex amenities include a gym, fitness and yoga center, common room, reading room, a tool-equipped hobby room, and a children's play area. Landscape architects Claude Cormier + Associés designed outdoor spaces, including a sloped lawn.
