Topcon Multi-Pulse Technology Boosts Distance for Total Station

Topcon Multi-Pulse Technology Boosts Distance for Total Station

By Staff | August 11, 2010

A more accurate, longer distance, wireless total station, the Topcon GPT-3100W model, is available for the surveying and civil engineering market. A "multi-pulse" electronic distance meter (EDM) that can take readings at 1,150 feet, has a more narrow reflectorless beam (.8 inches by .4 inches at 164 feet), and is designed for easier maintenance.

Additionally, the model retains the dual-optical design for maximum measuring accuracy at all times. The laser is safe for all conditions, making it ideal for use in high-traffic and other heavily-populated areas.

The unit uses a dual laser optics system, one narrow beam for non-prism functions, and a broader beam when using a prism which stabilizes the beam over long distances providing accurate measurement, even in adverse atmospheric conditions such as heat shimmer.

The model replaces the GPT-3000W. Model GPT-3000LW, which has a reflectorless EDM of 4,000 feet, is still available.
