The products selected for Building Design+Construction’s annual 101 Top Products report are determined by you, our readers. From security doors to metal ceilings, fabric ducts to rainscreen wall systems, linear drains to bacteria-killing LED lighting, these are the products that appeared in the pages of the magazine over the past 12 months that readers wanted to learn more about. The products were selected based on the number of reader service inquiries. BD+C editors selected a few of our favorites as well (marked “Editors' Picks”).

The products are organized across eight categories: Building Envelope  |  Building Systems  |  Flooring  |  Glass and Glazing  |  Interior  |  Plumbing  |  Structural  |  Windows and Doors.

KINETEX

This textile composite flooring combines the attributes of soft-surface floor covering with the long-wearing performance characteristics of hard-surface flooring. The lightweight, non-slip flooring is composed of a face fiber wear layer thermally fused to a cushioned backing. Geared for retail, healthcare, education, and institutional environments. Kinetex is highly breathable and can be installed on higher relative humidity (RH) slabs than most non-breathable hard flooring. Available in 24x24-inch modules or 18x36-inch planks.

COSMOS RX

Cosmos Rx is the newest offering in Ecore’s Commercial Rx Collection. Cosmos Rx is sound absorbent and ergonomic and uses Ecore’s itstru technology. This technology makes the space it is installed in quieter than traditional commercial flooring options, according to the maker. The product features 5mm of Ecore’s vulcanized composition rubber backing fusion-bonded to a modern heterogeneous vinyl sheet. The flooring is also hygienic as a result of its heat-welded installation, which leaves no pores or crevices to collect dirt or mold.

LOOK BOTH WAYS

EDITORS' PICK: This collection of vinyl tile (LVT) and carpet tile emulates the look of concrete and terrazzo flooring, while providing the acoustic, maintenance, and performance benefits of LVT and carpet tile. Available in four carpet tile and four LVT products, Look Both Ways is designed to produce a smooth transition from hard to soft flooring surfaces. The modular flooring can be easily installed side-by-side to achieve integrated flooring without transition strips.

FLIGHTPATH AND AIRSPACE

As their names suggest, the FlightPath and AirSpace flooring collections from Tarkett were inspired by the lines and angles of intersecting flight paths on air traffic maps. The soft-surface collections feature Powerbond construction, which allows for installation in any direction, even diagonally. Powerbond fuses nylon and closed-cell vinyl cushion together to create a wall-to-wall moisture barrier with chemically welded seams. FlightPath contains 14 different matching points in its 22-foot pattern repeat, which creates an opportunity every 19 inches for seams to align. AirSpace uses the same concept on a smaller scale, with an opportunity to match every nine inches, with either end-to-end or side-to-side installation.
