A four-story exterior courtyard walkway is the primary design element for the $20.4 million, 101,000-sf Calpulli Center student health service facility on the main campus of San Diego State University. The courtyard provides access to all areas of the facility, which houses medical offices; exam and procedure rooms; radiology, pharmacy, optometry, and group testing rooms; and a future dental lab. The facility also includes faculty and staff offices and student rooms for counseling and psychological services and student disability services. Local architect Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker designed the facility with Highland Partnership, Chula Vista, Calif., as general contractor, McParlane & Associates, San Diego, as mechanical engineer, and Hope Engineering, San Diego, as structural engineer.
