Rotterdam resiliency policies include floating neighborhood

Rotterdam resiliency policies include floating neighborhood

The floating neighborhood will feature homes, offices, a school, a park, and a dairy factory.

By BD+C Staff | December 4, 2013

The low-lying city of Rotterdam in the Netherlands is a world leader in storm resiliency with policies that impact businesses, private homes, and public infrastructure.

The resiliency initiatives include an underground parking garage with a basin the size of four Olympic swimming pools, and green areas including green roofs and green facades that will be able to absorb water.

The city is also building a floating neighborhood that will feature homes, offices, a school, a park, and a dairy factory. More are planned in future.
