Reed Construction Data’s BIM Objects Now Available on AIA Soloso Web Service

August 11, 2010

Reed Construction Data (www.reedconstructiondata.com), a provider of BIM solutions and construction information, recently announced an agreement with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) to upload Reed’s  parametric BIM objects to AIA’s Soloso information platform (http://soloso.aia.org/eknowledge/index.htm).

Soloso, a knowledge and exchange site using many web 2.0 features, was custom-built by the AIA as an online resource center for architects, delivering the most current architecture information directly to users’ desktops, including research, community resources, e-journals, award-winning projects, object banks, third-party site links and more.

Soloso users now have access to Reed Construction Data’s industry-leading BIM objects, which include a broad range of high-quality generic and manufacturer-specific (SmartBIM™) objects for Autodesk Revit® users. The objects contain crucial product data and specifications to assist architects in analyzing a model and making decisions during the design phase.

“As the pre-eminent professional organization for architects, the AIA, and its Soloso website, is an extremely important resource for the architect community,” said Richard Remington, vice president of product development, Reed Construction Data. “Through this upload, AIA members now have easy access to nearly 1,200 parametric BIM objects, representing over 14,000 product types.”

To extend flexibility, accuracy and usability, Reed’s BIM Objects are designed to meet or exceed the highest quality industry standards and are highly parametric, allowing designers to easily configure a single object, instead of spending time searching for new objects.

“The Reed BIM solutions library significantly expands the suite of tools and best practices available to our members through Soloso,” said Kevin Novak, Vice President Integrated Web Strategy and Technology, AIA. “This new offering underscores the benefits of our strategic partnership with Reed and demonstrates our commitment to provide AIA members with easy access to the latest technology that helps them better serve their clients and communities.”
