Professional Women in Construction National Will honor four outstanding women in construction industry May 19 in New York

New York, NY - Professional Women in Construction (PWC) National President Lenore Janis has just announced the final selections of honorees for PWC National's annual Salute to Women of Achievement luncheon to be held on Tuesday, May 19, from 11:30 to 2 pm at The Yale Club in New York City. Notes Janis, “We’ve assembled a truly stellar group. These women serve as a powerful inspiration to countless others.”
 
Honoree Frances Huppert, FAIA, associate vice president Capital Project Management, Columbia University, manages and oversees a 40-person staff of architects, engineers, historic preservationists and construction professionals and is responsible for the adaptive reuse of and major renovations to existing buildings, infrastructure, and new building construction at Columbia.

As the director of Design Studio 3 at the New York City School Construction Authority (SCA), honoree Maria Gomez, P.E., is in charge of the 120 in-house architects and engineers designing and reviewing the schools in the SCA’s $13.1 billion five-year Capital Plan, which will include 26 schools – 14,000 new seats Citywide -- set to open in 22 newly constructed buildings at the start of the 2009-10 school year.

Honoree Barbara Armand, the president and CEO of Armand Corporation, founded her construction management firm in 1991 and has propelled it to tremendous growth. Armand Corporation has either primed or acted as sub-consultant for American Airlines International Terminal, JFK Airport; Brigantine Connector project (Atlantic City); and the Philadelphia School District Capital Improvement Program.

Honoree Kay Lee, general sales manager for SimplexGrinnell's New York City district office, manages a business portfolio of well over $25 milion for the strategic sales growth of the firm’s fire and life-safety protection business in the New York City metro area. She has worked with such notable clients as Waldorf-Astoria, Morgan Post Office and Riker's Island.

Presenters include Sharon Greenberger, president and CEO of New York City School Construction Authority, and Janis.
