InPro Corporation's JointMaster Engineered Metal Products division has developed a “stealth” expansion joint, the 601 Stealth Expansion Joint System, that can be hidden on any building—regardless of its façade material.
The trick is a hinged “cover pan” technology that allows the joint to be in-filled with almost any façade material—precast concrete, wood, stone, brick, marble, slate, and glass—to reduce its sightlines to a few inches, without affecting seismic-grade movement.
Matthew Fisher, Product Manager at JointMaster, said the technology is "a major breakthrough in [the] ongoing war to protecting the integrity of buildings without marring their appearances." It's designed primarily for high-end, wall-to-wall or wall-to-corner exteriors.
