Portugese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura, whose precisely-honed buildings reflect the influence of the late Chicago modernist Mies van der Rohe, is the 2011 winner of the Pritzker Architecture Prize, the field's highest honor, it was announced Monday.
Little known in the United States and with no buildings here, Souto de Moura, 58, is the second Portuguese architect to win the Pritzker; Alvaro Siza won in 1992.
