Philadelphia to enforce building energy benchmarking in October

The City of Philadelphia has begun to send out compliance notices regarding its Building Energy Benchmarking Law.

By BD+C Staff | August 19, 2013

The City of Philadelphia has begun to send out compliance notices regarding its Building Energy Benchmarking Law. The rule requires owners/operators of buildings with more than 50,000 sf of indoor floor space (or mixed-use buildings where at least 50,000 sf of indoor space is devoted to commercial use) to disclose annual energy usage and water consumption. Enforcement is expected to begin in October. The benchmarking law is designed to reduce citywide building energy use by 10% in 2015.
