The Pentagon has eliminated the stringent real estate leasing standards it put into place following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, reverting back to a version widely used by federal civilian agencies. The change eases requirements such as building setbacks and blast-resistant construction. The change could be a significant boost to Washington’s commercial real estate community because it will put dozens of buildings back into contention for military leases.
