The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced its preliminary Top 10 most frequently cited workplace safety violations for fiscal year 2015.
"In injury prevention, we go where the data tell us to go," said National Safety Council President and CEO Deborah A.P. Hersman. "The OSHA Top 10 list is a roadmap that identifies the hazards you want to avoid on the journey to safety excellence."
The Top 10 hazards for FY 2015 are:
- Fall Protection – 6,721
- Hazard Communication – 5,192
- Scaffolding – 4,295
- Respiratory Protection – 3,305
- Lockout/Tagout – 3,002
- Powered Industrial Trucks – 2,760
- Ladders – 2,489
- Electrical – Wiring Methods – 2,404
- Machine Guarding – 2,295
- Electrical – General Requirements – 1,973
The final report on the Top 10 violations for 2015 will be published in the December edition of the Council's Safety+Health magazine.

University of Florida aiming for nation’s first LEED Platinum parking garage
If all goes as planned, the University of Florida’s new $20 million Southwest Parking Garage Complex in Gainesville will soon become the first parking facility in the country to earn LEED Platinum status. Designed by the Boca Raton office of PGAL to meet criteria for the highest LEED certification category, the garage complex includes a six-level, 313,000-sf parking garage (927 spaces) and an attached, 10,000-sf, two-story transportation and parking services office building.
