New Lord Aeck Sargent office space earns LEED Platinum

New Lord Aeck Sargent office space earns LEED Platinum

Architecture firm's headquarters office in Atlanta gains USGBC's highest energy/environment rating.

December 1, 2015

ATLANTA - November 11, 2015: Lord Aeck Sargent relocated its offices to an adjacent building in the Colony Square complex after more than 20 years in its previous location.  The new space (at 1175 Peachtree St NE, Atlanta, GA 30361) occupies the top two floors of the building. A monumental stair was added, along with skylights to bring in natural light and provide a showcase for the office.

The LEED Rating System provided an effective tool to identify and incorporate sustainable strategies and the project ultimately achieved Platinum Certification. The urban site provides easy pedestrian access to amenities and the nearby multi-modal transit station. Sculptural indoor bicycle racks and showers/changing areas celebrate and encourage alternative transportation.

LED fixtures with sophisticated occupancy/daylight harvesting controls are estimated to cut lighting energy use in half.

Workstation occupancy sensors control task lighting and computer monitors.

High-recycled content, low-emitting furniture is configured to provide outside views for all.

High-efficiency plumbing fixtures and Energy Star appliances further reduce resource consumption.

The design provides abundant natural daylight and promotes active lifestyles.

Lord Aeck Sargent’s new LEED Platinum office is a physical testament to the firm’s commitment to sustainable design and the 2030 Challenge.
