As a growing number of healthcare institutions become more customer-focused, post-occupancy evaluations (POE) are playing a bigger role in new construction and renovation projects. Advocate Health Care is among the healthcare organizations to institute a detailed post-occupancy assessment process for its projects.
The three-part POE process includes a mix of web-based surveys, walkthroughs, group interviews, and building-performance documentation at different stages of the project. The process has resulted in a much clearer picture of the success of construction projects.
You can learn more about Advocate Health Care's new POE process at BUILDINGChicago. Advocate's Construction Project Manager Tim Bassett is co-hosting (with design professionals from VOA Inc.) a continuing education class based on the organization's POE system, and how it was applied for the recently completed Advocate BroMenn Medical Center.
Bassett's session, "A New Post-occupancy Evaluation Process at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center" (Tuesday, September 10, 10:30 am - 12:00 pm), is one of more than 70 continuing education classes at the BUILDINGChicago show, which takes place September 9-11 at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza.
