The latest annual technology report from Associated Builders and Contractors delves into how artificial intelligence can enhance efficiency and innovation in the construction sector.

The report includes a resource guide, a case study, insight papers, and an essay concerning applied uses for AI planning, development, and execution. A Hensel Phelps case study focuses on how the construction company partnered with Track3D, an AI-powered platform, to enhance construction efficiency and innovation on complex projects.

Essays provide an overview of how artificial intelligence can transform the construction industry by improving data maturity, project outcomes, and safety. A section by Dodge Construction Network discusses the concept of augmented intelligence, which is a form of artificial intelligence that supports human decision-making and productivity.

“For contractors and the construction industry in general, there is so much for us to learn relative to AI so that we understand how to prepare, the possible uses, and the overall implications,” says Patrick Irwin, chair of ABC’s Construction Technology and Innovation Committee and chief operating officer at Leonard S. Fiore Inc., Altoona, Pennsylvania. “These tools can be used to move our businesses and the industry forward, and this report can give us all an opportunity to begin or continue our AI journey.”
