Nason Construction named CM for Fraunhofer project in Delaware Technology Park

August 11, 2010

Wilmington, Del., March 24, 2009 - Nason Construction was recently awarded construction management services  for Fraunhofer USA, Inc.’s expansion project. The 14,000 s.f. building addition in Delaware Technology Park will be completed in the fall of 2009 and is supported by a $5 million grant from the State of Delaware as well as a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency.

The expansion project will allow Fraunhofer USA to continue working to create a plant-based bird flu vaccine developed under Good Manufacturing Practices as established by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  The work involves installation of mechanical, electrical and specialty systems that will increase the quality of their manufacturing process and help them develop safe, pure and effective products.

“Nason is excited to assist Fraunhofer USA with this exciting project,” said Michael B. Berardi, President of Nason Construction. “We understand the critical nature of working within the FDA’s GMP guidelines, and our project team has the expertise to successfully complete this project for Fraunhofer USA.”

The Nason project team will be lead by Project Executive Doug Gianforte, LEED AP. Doug has significant experience in the pharmaceutical industry and facilities that implement Good Manufacturing Practice requirements. He will be supported by Bob Coppins, a Project Manager with over 25 years experience and extensive work on R&D and pharmaceutical projects.
