Mortenson Construction has been selected as EPC contractor by San Francisco-based MP2 Capital to construct the largest photovoltaic (PV) solar array to be built in Scotland County, N.C.
Located on a 12 acre site in the Sandhills region, the 2.4 megawatt (MW) system is expected to generate approximately 3.5 million kilowatt hours (kWhs) of clean electricity on an annual basis--the equivalent of electricity usage for approximately 600 homes.
As EPC contractor Mortenson will provide design and engineering services as well as install all project components, which will include Trina multicrystalline modules, Northern States Metal Solar FlexRack racking systems, and SMA inverters. Construction crews will break ground in January and expect to complete the project by the end of April 2012. BD+C
