Moody+Nolan designs sustainable fire station in Cincinnati

March 5, 2012

A 13,000-square-foot fire station designed by Moody+Nolan received LEED Gold certification. Located in Cincinnati’s College Hill business area, the fire station provides an administration department, living area with a kitchen, exercise room and dormitory that can lodge up to 12 firefighters per shift.

Cincinnati Fire Station #51 received several awards for its design and efficiency. Sustainable design elements include harvesting rain water to refill the pumper truck, vegetated roof areas, solar photo-voltaic panels on the south-facing standing-seam metal roof and a rain garden for storm water detention.
