Metal roof design tips: The devil is in the details

Metal roof design tips: The devil is in the details

This course is worth 1.0 AIA LU/HSW

By MBCI | October 30, 2013

In this AIA/CES-approved presentation, you will learn that designing a roofing system for long-term performance requires long-term thinking about the details incorporated in a metal roof system. This presentation provides information regarding proper design to prevent possible infiltration from the roof system into the building. It also works as a guide when designing a roof to allow for proper water runoff.

Learning objectives include:
ā€¢ Requirements needed when designing details incorporated into a metal roof system.
ā€¢ Being exposed to both correct and incorrect details and conditions that are best avoided when possible,
ā€¢ Learning how roof penetrations should be specified and installed to provide long term weathertightness.
ā€¢ Learning about dissimilar metals and how they affect a roofā€™s service life.

U.S. is reducing floodplain development in most areas

The perception that the U.S. has not been able to curb development in flood-prone areas is mostly inaccurate, according to new research from climate adaptation experts. A national survey of floodplain development between 2001 and 2019 found that fewer structures were built in floodplains than might be expected if cities were building at random.
