New renderings of the proposed Lucas Museum show a scaled-down building on more green space, CBS Chicago reports.

Commissioned by "Star Wars" creator George Lucas to Ma Yansong’s architecture firm MAD, together with Jeanne Gang and Kate Orff working on the landscape, the museum will host permanent and temporary exhibitions showcasing the art and history of storytelling.

Clashes have risen from the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art’s design, with critics saying the Jabba the Hutt-like design should not be built on Chicago’s waterfront. Proponents of the museum, which includes Mayor Rahm Emanuel, say the design is “loyal to Chicago’s history of making bold architectural statements and its devotion to keeping the lakefront open, accessible, and green,” CBS Chicago reports.

Currently occupying the site the museum will be built on is a 17-acre parking lot. If the revised museum design passes city council, it will bring 4.5 acres of new parkland.
