Luxury apartments in Chicago’s Wicker Park follow eco-friendly trends

By Leslie Streicher, Associate Editor | August 17, 2011

Construction is under way on a new luxury apartment building and restaurant in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. The 35,000-sf 1846 W. Division complex is designed by Summit Design + Build LLC in collaboration with Simeone Deary Design Group and Byrne Design Associates. Reaching four stories, the building will feature sleek steel, concrete, and glass structures in 11 apartment units and underground parking.

On the first floor, a 6,500-sf restaurant, Prasino, provides eco-friendly dining for local residents. Food is prepared in energy-efficient kitchens, while tabletops and floors are made of reclaimed wood. Light fixtures are crafted from recycled wine bottles and cardboard boxes, putting the finishing touch on the environmental design.
