After many delays since construction started in 2009, the Jean Nouvel-designed Louvre Abu Dhabi is slated for completion sometime this year, My Modern Met reports.

The building, which will house what the Louvre calls “the first global art museum in the Arab world,” will occupy 8,000 sf. Around 2,000 sf will be used for permanent collections and the rest for temporary exhibits.

A latticed dome features small cutouts where fractured bits of sunlight can shine through and cast shadows.
