Lawmakers may take away control of Florida hospital project from the VA

The project is $100 million over budget and has missed its scheduled completion date.

Some lawmakers are considering taking control of the Orlando Veterans Affairs Hospital project away from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The project is $100 million over budget and has missed its scheduled completion date.

Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.) is reluctant to turn the project over to another government agency such as the Army Corps of engineers, however, and said he would consider hiring a private entity to assume control.
