The former Winchester Repeating Arms Factory in New Haven, Conn., is the new home of PepsiCo’s Biology Innovation Research Laboratory. Local architecture firm Svigals + Partners renovated space inside the historic gun factory, rechristened the New Haven Science Park, to provide a “holistic” and sustainable design that reduces energy consumption and improves working conditions for employees. The lab occupies 3,528 sf within a six-story building and features daylighting and carefully planned aesthetics and art to create a more homelike atmosphere that aims to increase productivity.
