KBE Building Corp. recently received the Platinum STEP (Safety Training & Evaluation Process) Award from the national Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC).

The ABC National Environment Health & Safety Committee established the STEP program in 1989 to provide an analysis of safety and loss prevention programs, measure safety program improvements, and provide performance recognition. The STEP awards are separated into five categories: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond.

The criteria for the Platinum STEP Award include:

  • A total recordable incident rate 25% or more below the NAICS (North American Industrial Classification) code industry average
  • A maintained Experience Modification Rate (EMR) of .800
  • No OSHA cited fatalities in the previous three years
  • A meeting of the minimum 20 Key Components Score

The ABC has honored KBE with either a Platinum or Gold STEP Award every year since 2003. +
