John S. Clark Company, LLC (JS Clark) recently completed of the Teaching Laboratory Building at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) campus. Groundbreaking for the facility was held in 2010, with the now-finished building hosting offices and labs to be used primarily by UNC Wilmington's departments of Psychology and Environmental Studies, as well as classrooms for those departments and others in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The project includes 85,000-sf of laboratory and lecture classroom space with terraced seating, an extended learning classroom, and faculty office space housing several science-related departments. The project is attempting to gain LEED Silver Certification through innovative design, construction using sustainable local materials, and by diverting 84% of the construction debris from reaching landfills by implementing on onsite recycling plan. +
