A “Jewel Box” retail building is under construction at Miami Worldcenter, representing one of the last remaining retail components in the $4 billion, mixed-use project. The Jewel Box is located at the confluence of 7th Street Promenade and World Paseo open-air retail pedestrian streets.
The retail building, designed by Nichols Brosch Wurst Wolfe & Associates, will feature floor-to-ceiling glass and two levels with approximately 78,000 sf of retail space, which includes an expansive rooftop overlooking the development’s World Square plaza. The 20,000-sf public plaza and park is designed as a central gathering place and outdoor event space that will serve as the heartbeat of the city-within-a-city.
“The final elements of this world-class retail development plan are coming together, and the design and concept for the signature ‘Jewel Box’ element reflects the strong feedback we’ve received from brands from around the world and across South Florida,” said developer Nitin Motwani, Managing Partner of Miami Worldcenter Associates, in a release. “Traditional retailers, food and beverage, and entertainment concepts see value in having a presence in a well-located, well-connected site combining residential, hotel, office and retail uses within a single master-planned development.”
The Jewel Box will be part of the overall development’s 300,000-sf of retail, restaurant, and entertainment space. BDI COnstruction is building the Jewel Box, which is slated for completion in 2022.
