Ingenium Group sells Giffels units, buys Stonefield

By Sam Oches, Editorial Intern | August 11, 2010
This article first appeared in the 200808 issue of BD+C.

The Ingenium Group, an architectural, engineering, interior design, construction and project management firm based in Toronto (#10 among engineers/architects on BD+C's 2008 Giants 300 list), has sold four of its member companies to IBI Group's IBI Income Fund: Giffels Associates Limited; Giffels Inc.; Giffels of North Carolina; and Giffels International. Giffels Design Build Inc. will remain with Ingenium. The divested units will be known as Giffels Professional Engineers.

“The sale of the Giffels consulting units will provide a greater opportunity for them to thrive as their activities are more aligned with IBI's strategic focus,” said Victor Smith, Ingenium's president and CEO.

Ingenium has also purchased Stonefield Development Consultants of Vancouver, B.C., which provides land-use planning, project management, public consultation, and landscape architectural services to the residential and resort development sector. The acquisition will help expand the Ingenium Group's focus on international resort properties.
