HSA Commercial selected as consultant for Orland Park’s Main Street Triangle project

The Village Board of Orland Park has chosen Chicago-based HSA Commercial Real Estate as its development consultant for the Main Street Triangle redevelopment project. The Village will work with HSA to design and construct a mixed-use, pedestrian-oriented development including upscale shopping, dining, and entertainment attractions that will create a dynamic, urban atmosphere. In its role as a development consultant, HSA will be responsible for designing an overall mixed-use merchandise plan, attracting a unique retail tenant mix and completing leases with prospective tenants.

The “Main Street Triangle District”, which is owned by the Village of Orland Park, is a 32-acre parcel bounded generally by La Grange Road on the east, 143rd Street on the south and the Metra Southwest Line on the west. Flaherty and Collins, an Indianapolis-based multifamily developer, recently broke ground on a 295-unit luxury apartment complex on the southern portion of the site, which is scheduled for completion in spring 2013. In implementing Northwestern University’s Engineering Life Sciences infill design, Flad Architects faced the challenge of ensuring adequate, balanced light given the adjacent, existing building wings. To allow for light penetration from the fifth floor to the ground floor, the design team desired a large, central atrium. One potential setback with drawing light through the atrium was meeting fire and life safety codes.
