RIBA awards Rafael Viñoly International Fellowship

NEW YORK, November 30, 2005 -Rafael Viñoly Architects is delighted to announce that the Council of the Royal Institute of British Architects has recently approved the award of an International Fellowship to Rafael Viñoly, the  firm’s principal. The fellowships reward the particular contributions of non-UK architects whose ‘outstanding work the RIBA wishes to mark’ and will be presented on February 15, 2006 at the RIBA.  
Rafael Viñoly is one of six international architects to become an inaugural International Fellow. He will be awarded this new honor alongside Bernard Tschumi, Massimiliano Fuksas, Wolf Prix, Shigeru Ban and Peter Eisenman, each of whom is now accorded the privilege of using Int FRIBA after their name. RIBA President, Jack Pringle, described each as “giants on the world stage of architecture.” Commenting, Rafael Viñoly said: “It goes without saying that this fellowship is a great honor and I am delighted that the Royal Institute has accorded me the privilege of joining such an illustrious circle.”
