Clayco Inc. and its joint-venture partner, Legacy Building Group, were recently awarded new project work for BJC HealthCare and member hospital Progress West HealthCare Center in O'Fallon, MO. The team will construct a 40,000-square-foot data center for BJC that will be built to achieve LEED Gold certification with the U.S. Green Building Council and a 60,000-square-foot medical office building for Progress West that will achieve LEED Core and Shell certification.

The Clayco/Legacy team aligns with BJC's diversity initiatives by proposing to split the project management between companies for each of the projects. Clayco will oversee both projects and will manage data center construction, while Legacy will manage construction of the medical office building.

The $30-million project will include a significant investment for the BJC data center, which will encompass infrastructure equipment and a hardened energy center to support Tier III — N+1 data center requirements. The structural design will be critical and will be built to withstand F-3 tornado conditions.

The Clayco-Legacy team joins St. Louis-based Arcturis, as the architect of record; Pittsburgh-based CJL Engineering, as the mechanical engineer of record; Bick Group, as the data center consultant; KJWW, as the structural engineer of record; and e2 Energy & Environmental Solutions Inc., as the sustainability consultant.
