With more than 100,000 copies in circulation, the Concrete Primer from the American Concrete Institute has served as an essential resource for the concrete industry for 75 years. ACI has now published the fifth edition of the primer.
This new 2002 edition continues the traditional question-and-answer format of the first edition. The primer answers, in simple language, more than 200 questions spanning a broad range of subjects, from concrete properties and ingredients to structural design to post-construction evaluation.
Along with most of the answers in this latest revision, authors Bryant Mather and Celik Ozyildirim have included references to applicable documents in the ACI Manual of Concrete Practice (MCP). “We regard this as the introduction to the MCP, ACI’s multi-volume compilation of its current technical committee documents,” say the authors. “We have also cited many ASTM standards.”
This fifth edition also gives all quantities in SI units and uses the most current and accurate industry terminology, following the terms given in ACI 116R. The 84-page volume is $28 for ACI members; $46.50 for nonmembers. Visit ACI’s online bookstore at www.concrete.org.
