Wisconsin Governor Doyle Signs Airport Projects Totaling $21.2 Million

Governor Doyle recently approved projects for 20 airports all over the state. The work ranges from designing new terminals to building hangars; resurfacing or building runways, taxiways and other pavement; adding lighting; and upgrading stormwater drainage.

The beneficiary airports included Amery, Crandon, Cumberland, Dane County, Fond du Lac, Lakeland, Land O' Lakes, Manitowish Waters, Manitowoc, Marshfield, Menomonie, Milwaukee, Oconto, Outagamie County, Park Falls, Rhinelander, Rice Lake, Sheboygan, Shell Lake, and Wautoma.

The largest dollar amounts were $9.7 million at Dane County, $3.5 million at Milwaukee, $2.2 million at Outagamie County, and $1.7 million at Shell Lake.

About $18.7 million of the $21.2 million total funding came from the Federal Aviation Administration, with about $1.2 million coming from the state and $1.3 million coming from the areas served by the airports.
