YKK AP makes LEED Accredited Professional status a key for promotion
AUSTELL, Ga. (June 24, 2009) þuYKK AP is making knowledge of green construction practices a key part of the career development program for sales force employees.
The architectural products manufacturer recently added the “LEED AP” credential as an optional requirement for promotion to senior account manager. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a stringent set of voluntary guidelines established by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. “AP” stands for accredited professional.
A sales representative seeking promotion also can choose to be certified as a CCPR (Certified Construction Product Representative). That program is run by the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).
“By earning these credentials, employees demonstrate a general knowledge of green building practices and enhance their career development potential,” said Oliver Stepe, YKK AP Senior Vice President.
YKK AP has set up a 10-week study group program to help employees prepare for the exam. So far, nine sales representatives have participated in the study group. All five who have taken the exam have passed. Four more are awaiting exam results.
