Cedar Valley College (CVC) and Turner Construction Company broke ground in early April on CVC's new 108,000-square-foot Science and Veterinary Technology Building at 3030 North Dallas Avenue in Lancaster, about 15 miles south of Dallas.
Architects at HOK designed the building to be consistent with Cedar Valley College's existing brick and curtain wall architectural style and incorporate lighter, more open concepts from LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and Universal Design. HOK designed three standard lab modules of with flexible interior layouts to support the college's science mission in several disciplines. The $31,137,904 facility will have its own central plant and upgrades to the lift station and technology. The college expects to have its first classes in the fall of 2009.
