Brisbane, CA (July 7, 2019) – SAFTI FIRST, leading USA-manufacturer of advanced fire rated glass and framing systems, is pleased to announce that it’s revolutionary, patent-pending, 45 minute fire protective products SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS are now approved glazing components in the National Fenestration Rating Council’s (NFRC) Component Modeling Approach Software Tool (CMAST) database.  Architects, consultants, builders and other NFRC CMAST users can now simulate the U-factor, Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC) and Visual Light Transmission (VLT) of 45 minute exterior window assemblies that incorporate SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS, GPX Framing and any other glazing or spacer component available in the CMAST database. This is in addition to SAFTI FIRST’s SuperLite II-XL fire resistive glazing and fire resistive GPX Framing products that are already in the CMAST database since 2017.

“CMAST is critical tool to show architects that fire rated products can enhance the performance of the building envelope and meet or exceed local and state energy codes like Title 24 and others,” says Tim Nass, VP of Sales at SAFTI FIRST. “We know that architects and owners want a quality product that meets their specification while accommodating their budget and schedule. The thermal properties associated with SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS, especially when paired with high performance glazing, will make it the benchmark for exterior 45 minute fire protective windows.”

Listed and labeled by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and Intertek/Warnock Hersey (WHI), SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS can be used in 45 minute openings, sidelites and transoms up to a maximum clear view area of 3,880 sq. in. and in 45 minute doors up to a maximum clear view area of 3,288 sq. in. SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS meet all the fire, hose stream and safety requirements without the use of wires, films or laminates.  Both versions are ¾” optically clear glazing.  SuperClear 45-HS-LI has an approximate visible light transmission of 90%, compared to 88% for premium filmed ceramic and 85% for premium laminated ceramic.  This makes SuperClear 45-HS-LI the clearest 45 minute, fire protective glazing product in the market today.

SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS can be used in insulated, obscure, decorative or filmed make-ups. SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS also performed better in an independent, third-party acoustical lab test against filmed and laminated ceramic in standard hollow metal frames.  SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS have a 37 STC/35 OITC rating in standard hollow metal framing, compared to 29 STC/28 OITC for filmed ceramic in standard hollow metal framing and 31 STC/30 OITC for laminated ceramic in standard hollow metal framing.

SuperClear 45-HS-LI and SuperClear 45-HS are proudly USA-made for fast lead times and affordable pricing. Fabrication will only take days – not weeks. They are priced at approximately half of filmed and laminated ceramics and are aimed to be the go-to product for glaziers.
