Phius has launched a comprehensive Trades Training Program for building and construction professionals.
The program is designed for those with basic carpentry skills seeking advanced training in building science and related construction techniques. Phius, which is focused on high-performance passive building, is offering the program via online self-paced modules starting on February 11, followed by in-person training from March 11-13 at Appalachian State University. A second session is planned for late 2025.
Phius Certified Trades Professional—Enclosure Specialist Training will educate participants on building science fundamentals, moisture management, and energy efficiency strategies for high-performance buildings. Upon completion, individuals earn the Enclosure Specialist certification.
The comprehensive curriculum covers various critical building science topics, including foundational passive building principles, water management, and indoor air quality fundamentals. The in-person portion of the training includes hands-on instruction during which students construct a sample “pod,” allowing them to apply the techniques taught in the course to a real-world miniature structure.
Applicants should be proficient in both power and hand tools and have experience in framing and sheathing.
