Building Design+Construction editors bring you the top building products for the month of January. Collected across a variety of building sectors, these products provide security, acoustic balancing, and clean air filtration.

Combining a sleeker design with upgrades that lower long-term labor costs and simplify filter maintenance, the updated line of Elkay Filtered Bottle Filling Stations are connected-ready, and clients can track usage, filter status and schedule flushing events across every unit to keep lines cleaner remotely. Each unit utilizes a commercial-grade WaterSentry filter that reduces most contaminants, including lead, PFOA/PFOS, microplastics and more. A drop-down wrapper on each filling station allows for quicker filter changes with access to the filter from the front and side of the cooler. Providing an elevated look for office spaces, gyms, public facilities, airports and more, the updated line comes in Midnight Black, Arctic White and Standard Gray.


D31TDV and D31TDH IP video door intercom systems

With the aim to impact the future of door communications, the D31TDV and D31TDH IP video door intercom systems offer maximum flexibility and security, making them ideal for apartment buildings and commercial properties with up to 1,000 units. Both devices feature a 7-inch touch display module, integrated RFID and QR code reader, virtual keypad and 4-D motion sensor technology. The door intercom systems can be paired with the A1131 IP video mini-dome camera for additional security, as the camera delivers a 180-degree ultra-wide-angle view. Its video transmission is in real time via PoE or WLAN. Designed for indoor or outdoor installation on walls or ceilings, the camera can also be integrated into numerous smart home and video surveillance systems. 


Highly configurable, the ERVI energy recovery ventilator is available in two compact cabinet options, either right- or left-hand access and either-end discharge. Designed to fit into limited indoor spaces—like basements, mezzanines, and small mechanical rooms—and its modular construction fits through a 30-inch door, the energy recovery ventilator suits retrofitting and decarbonization projects, providing 100% outdoor air. The ERVi-10 discharges 375-1500 cfm with a maximum height of 18 inches, while the ERVi-20 discharges 750-2500 cfm with a maximum height of 23 inches.


For those seeking a contemporary, minimalist aesthetic combined with strength and durability, the Micro-Vee (MV40) wall panel has been crafted to address the demands of contemporary construction. Its overlapping joint is self-aligning to ensure quick and easy sealant application at the panel joinery for a seamless finish. Characterized by its flat surface and available in different gauges, steel and coatings, the MV40 wall panel unites form and function with clean, refined lines and resistance to the elements. 


As an extension to its existing line of BASYS Sensor Faucets, the faucets are now available in 0.35-gpm flow rates that can achieve substantial water savings, are LEEDv4 Water Efficiency credit eligible and CALGreen compliant, making them a fit for commercial projects aiming to optimize water usage. Existing BASYS Faucets can even be retrofit to this lower flow rate by replacing the spray head. The line extension emphasizes ease of maintenance with user-friendly top access to key components, including solenoids and batteries. 


Offering a dramatic advancement in fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) technology, the launch of GLASBOND signals a shift toward an enhanced, more efficient installation process. Knowing traditional application methods can be time consuming and hard to work with, these FRP panels and trim profiles feature a prefabricated adhesive-backed design that allows for peel-and-stick attachment. In addition to faster installation, the wall solution incorporates strengths of traditional FRP products, like the smooth, nonporous surface and protective Surfaseal finish, that ensure a more hygienic environment and can meet strict sanitation requirements.


The DC-PL-3704 Perform Louver with a perforated sheet face has achieved Dade County Certification after passing a series of Testing Application Standards including impact, cyclical wind and static wind. With vertical extreme-weather resistant blades in the rear and perforated sheet in the front, this 5 3/8-inch-deep system comes in a 3/8-inch or a 1-inch hole size pattern. Integrating into any curtain wall system, the louvers are engineered to work in harmony with interior louver blades.


With the introduction of its range of space-saving solutions for small- and medium-sized heat loads, the CyberAir Mini DX range complements the CyberAir Mini CW range and will together replace the MiniSpace series. The CyberAir Mini DX comes in three sizes with outputs from 5.9kW to 22.7kW, and each device can be configured with a choice of five different cooling systems and available as upflow or downflow versions. Additionally, the air conditioning unit can operate with four different varieties of refrigerant, including R513A and R454C low Global Warming Potential refrigerants. Equipped with the STULZ E² control system and touchscreen display for intuitive operation and quick parameter configuration, the unit can be connected to a building management system. 


Part of the Tuned Collection, the Tessellate Cloud and Pizzelle Cloud provide designers with many acoustic options by balancing sound and elevating aesthetics. Delivering a unique geometric ceiling design, the Tessellate Cloud system allows integration with lighting for added functionality along with its Array-NRC rating of 0.35. With curved elements that press fit and lock together for an undulating, modern look, Pizzelle Cloud works seamlessly with lighting and other ceiling elements while delivering an Array-NRC rating of 0.80. The sustainable acoustic ceiling products are made from at least 60% recycled post-consumer plastics, are inherently Class A fire-rated, qualify for LEED and WELL building credits, and are available in over 35 through-panel PET colors. 


A solution tailored for cooler applications within the food and beverage industry, the launch of an Air Curtain option for the 991 RapidFlex commercial doors creates a more efficient and controlled environment particularly for those in sectors where hygiene and environmental control are paramount. In addition to minimizing the cool air that slips out each time a door opens and closes, the Air Curtain can play a role in preventing contaminants from infiltrating the opening while also effectively drying condensation that may form on the curtain during operation cycles. To meet diverse needs, a variety of Air Curtain options are available, including non-heated, heated, wash-down and stainless options. 


Accoya wood ¾- and 1-inch tongue-and-groove siding used in exterior wall assembly has met the wall or ceiling finishes criteria under ASTM E2707 and can now be used for new buildings in Wildland-Urban Interface areas or any Fire Hazard Severity Zone within State Responsibility Areas. The independent testing and results reinforce a commitment to providing reliable and innovative solutions for fire-resistant construction. Additionally, Accoya wood is manufactured from FSC certified sources, Cradle to Cradle Certified Gold, and includes a 50-year above ground and 25-year in ground and freshwater warranty. 


Engineered for flexibility, durability, and energy efficiency, the MAX PVC and fleece-backed MAX PVC XR roofing membranes are well-suited for demanding environments such as data centers, factories, restaurants, and educational institutions. In addition to chemical, grease, and fire resistance, an advanced 18x9 scrim on the PVC membranes offers superior puncture resistance and durability. Available in four colors, the White MAX PVC is Cool Roof Rating Council-compliant and eligible for LEED credits; both membranes may help attain additional green building credits in combination with other design components. 


To tackle common challenges traditional join seals in parking and open-air applications, the ESS System uses Santoprene—a flexible material with a multi-chamber design—to improve performance and ease of installation as an addition to the DuraSpan Parking & Open-Air Systems product line. Available in longer lengths than traditional horizonal sealing solutions, the elastomeric expansion join seal system reduces field splicing, installs using epoxy and allows for on-site modifications. Designed and rated for vehicular and pedestrian use, the water- and debris-resistant solution is suitable for new construction as well as retrofits, as it can accommodate joint gaps from 1 to 4 inches without substrate modifications. 


The RAUVISIO terra soft, textured HPL surface line provides a contemporary refresh with the addition of five new colors. To align with market trends, the color palette update shifts toward warmer tones. Fireside Walnut offers a rich true walnut shade; Midsummer Elm provides a fresh take on gray with warmer undertones; and Soundside Oak, Lighthouse Oak and Sundial Oak all epitomize the honey trend. The HPL surface line is offered as laminates, boards and edgeband, or fabricated panels and cabinet doors. 


Further collaboration between AWIP and Vicwest results in the launch of FASSADE with Bellara, a complete wall solution that integrates thermal, water, air and vapor protection. Engineered to meet the rigorous thermal requirements for steel-framed walls, the assembly provides a versatile integrated solution for a wide range of single-skin metal panels. The FW40 panel, which can install vertically and horizontally, is at the heart of the system as it serves as an insulation and vapor barrier. Then Bellara Steel Siding products—emulating natural wood and available in various styles, including Plank, Board and Batten, and Lap Siding—integrate into the system and attach using hat channels fastened through the tongue-and-groove joint.
