Researchers and industry leaders will form national institute for AI in construction
By Peter Fabris, Contributing Editor
Academic researchers and more than 40 industry partners will establish a National Institute for Artificial Intelligence in Construction.
The goal is to identify key high-impact areas for applying AI in design and construction. A team of researchers from the University of Illinois and Carnegie Mellon University has received grants and support from the National Science Foundation and the Discovery Partners Institute for the effort.
The researchers will hold a series of workshops to make plans for the institute. The institute will engage in the development of AI methods and tools to bring AI tools and solutions to market.
Researchers say they hope that the initiative will advance both the application of AI in construction and the science of AI research in general.
