Ready in time for the 2011-2012 school year, Patterson Elementary School, Houston, will cover 98,724 sf and house 50 classrooms, a library, a kitchen, a cafeteria, and a baseball pavilion. Replacing an outdated single-story facility originally constructed in 1958, the new $13.7 million, two-story building, constructed and designed by Cadence McShane, Houston, looks to earn LEED Silver certification with its energy-efficient temperature control and lighting, and domestic hot-water systems.
