AIA to honor Michael Graves

The American Institute of Architects has selected Michael Graves to receive its 2001 Gold Medal award, which recognizes an individual whose significant body of work has had a lasting influence on the theory and practice of architecture. Graves, 66, heads the Princeton, N.J., firm of Michael Graves & Associates. Graves' best-known projects include the Disney corporate headquarters in Burbank, Calif., and the design of scaffolding for the Washington Monument restoration.
